JONA, Switzerland (Interstat) — Madelen Janogy scored an early goal off the bench to lead Breitenrain to a 1-0 victory over Rapperswil-Jona in Swiss 1. Liga Promotion play Saturday at Sportstadion Grünfeld.

Janogy, a substitute, netted the decisive goal in the 18th minute. The assist came from fellow substitute Cecilie Fiskerstrand. The result defied a pregame projection that favored a draw.

Breitenrain improved to 2-0 in the league competition. Rapperswil-Jona, playing its first league match of the season, fell to 0-1. The match was marred by six yellow cards and a 76th-minute red card shown to Rapperswil-Jona’s Agnese Bonfantini.
