KAWASAKI, Japan (Interstat) — Kawasaki Frontale and Yokohama F. Marinos played to a 2-2 draw in a J1 League match Thursday at Kawasaki Todoroki Stadium.

The result defied a pregame projection that heavily favored Frontale. Leandro Damião opened the scoring for the hosts in the 25th minute, but received a yellow card just before halftime. Teruhito Nakagawa equalized for Yokohama in first-half stoppage time.

The match appeared headed for a split of the points until defender Jesiel headed in a dramatic equalizer for Frontale in the ninth minute of second-half stoppage time.
