Breidablik vs Keflavík

KOPAVOGUR, Iceland (Interstat) — Breidablik W enters Wednesday’s Úrvalsdeild Women matchup against Keflavik W riding a wave of dominant form, while the visitors are desperate to halt a two-match losing streak in Week 11 action at Kópavogsvöllur.

Kickoff is set for 6:15 p.m. local time.

Breidablik heads into the May 6 contest after a stunning 9-2 demolition of Thor/KA W on Sept. 20, its second consecutive victory. The home side has won three of its last four matches overall, including a 3-1 result against Athlone Town W on Aug. 27 and a 1-0 decision over Thróttur Reykjavík on Aug. 10. The only blemish during that stretch came June 10, 2022 — a 3-0 loss to Thróttur Reykjavík, though that result from three seasons ago carries limited weight.

Breidablik also beat Selfoss 5-1 on July 30.

Keflavik W, meanwhile, has struggled to find form. The visitors were shut out 3-0 by ÍF Grótta on Sept. 4 and dropped a 3-1 decision at home to ÍBV on Aug. 3. Both defeats came on the road, and Keflavik has not scored a goal in 180 minutes of play.

Interstat’s game simulator projects Breidablik as the overwhelming favorite, forecasting a 3-1 final score. The computer model’s ELO system gives Breidablik a 95.90 percent probability of victory — the highest margin of any projected match this week.

The venue, Kópavogsvöllur, has been a fortress for Breidablik, which has not lost at home in league play since July 2023.

Both teams will turn attention to road matches after Wednesday’s tilt. Keflavik travels to face Selfoss on May 15. Breidablik visits ÍBV on May 17.
