PANAZOL, France (Interstat) — Gintra Univ W defeated KuPS 1-0 on Sunday in a UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage match at Stade Fernand Valière.

The visiting Finnish side, KuPS, scored both goals in the game, but into its own net. Defender Nanne Ruuskanen put the ball past her own goalkeeper in the 28th minute. Six minutes later, midfielder Lavdije Begolli also conceded an own goal.

The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat, which gave Gintra Univ W a 79.5% chance to win and predicted a 2-0 victory for the Lithuanian club. The own goals proved the difference as Gintra Univ W improved its tournament record to 2-1, while KuPS fell to 0-1.
