Tokyo Rallies Late to Stun Sanfrecce Hiroshima

HIROSHIMA, Japan (Interstat) — Tokyo scored twice in the final 23 minutes to secure a 2-1 comeback victory over Sanfrecce Hiroshima in a J1 League match Sunday at EDION Stadium.

Sanfrecce Hiroshima’s Tsukasa Morishima opened the scoring in the 40th minute. Tokyo equalized in the 67th minute through Diego Queiroz de Oliveira. Substitute Adailton dos Santos da Silva then delivered the dramatic winner in the third minute of second-half stoppage time.

The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored the home side. It improves Tokyo’s league record to two wins and one draw, while Sanfrecce Hiroshima remains winless through three matches.
