CLERMONT-FERRAND, France (Interstat) — Paris Saint-Germain opened its Ligue 1 season with a commanding 5-0 victory over Clermont on Sunday at Stade Gabriel Montpied.

Neymar starred for the visitors, scoring once and setting up three other goals. Lionel Messi added a second-half brace, while defenders Achraf Hakimi and Marquinhos also found the net. The match was the first of the French top-flight campaign.

Clermont, which has yet to win in league play this season, was overmatched from the start. PSG controlled possession and created numerous chances, improving its league record to 16-2-3. The Parisian club next hosts Nantes on Wednesday. Clermont faces Bastia on Friday.
