CHISINAU (Interstat) — Momo Yansane came off the bench and scored in the 88th minute, giving Sheriff a 3-1 victory over Maribor on Sunday in an A-10 group match of the Champions League at Stadionul Zimbru.

Yansane, a 6-foot, 171-pound forward from Fria, Guinea, converted a pass from Stefano Fiore for the decisive goal. The match was scoreless until the second half, with yellow cards issued to Sheriff’s Regi Lushkja in the 56th minute, and Maribor’s Sven Šoštarič Karič in the 56th, Rok Sirk in the 72nd and Gregor Sikošek in the 89th.

Sheriff improved to 1-0 in the competition and 4-6-1 across all competitions. Maribor fell to 0-1 in group play and 0-3-1 overall. Maribor had lost 2-1 at Trenčín on May 19, drew 1-1 at Paksi SE on July 31, 2025, and lost 1-0 at Paksi SE on July 24, 2025. Sheriff’s previous results included a 3-3 draw at Milsami on Oct. 18, 2025, and losses to Anderlecht and Utrecht.
