PORTADOWN, Northern Ireland (Interstat) — Mainz 05 U17 secured a 2-0 away victory over Jahn Regensburg U17 in a GER U17 Bundesliga match Saturday at BMG Arena.

The visitors defied pregame projections, as Interstat’s simulator had forecast a 3-2 win for Mainz. Fabian Hanula opened the scoring for Mainz in the 49th minute, followed by a goal from teammate Christian Koch in the 61st. Koch later received a yellow card in stoppage time. Mainz’s Max Knoll was also booked in the 71st minute.

The result in Week 9 of the competition gives Mainz a winning start to its league campaign, while Regensburg begins with a loss.
