MARIEHAMN, Åland (Interstat) — Aland United opened its Kansallinen Liiga season with a 3-2 victory over Honka W on Sunday at Wiklöf Holding Arena.

Honka’s Elli Seiro opened the scoring in the 5th minute, but Aada Törrönen equalized for the hosts in the 37th. Wilma Sjöholm put Honka back ahead just before halftime in the 44th. Aland United mounted a second-half comeback with two unanswered goals to secure the win.

The match featured four yellow cards, all issued to Honka players, including one to Seiro in the 84th minute. The result defied a pregame statistical projection of a draw. Aland United begins the league campaign with a win, while Honka starts with a loss.
