HALESOWEN, West Midlands (Interstat) — Halesowen Town will host Alvechurch in an FA Cup matchup Sunday, April 26, at The Grove, with the home side entering as a heavy favorite according to Interstat’s projections.

Halesowen (9-4-3 in all competitions this season) is coming off a 2-0 clean sheet victory over Chasetown on April 12. The Yeltz have been strong at the back, recording three shutouts in their past five outings. Their run includes a 6-1 thrashing of Grimsby Borough on Sept. 16, though they also suffered a 2-1 loss to Leek Town on Oct. 4. Halesowen drew 1-1 with Grimsby Borough on Sept. 13 and played Stratford Town to a 1-1 draw on Aug. 30 before beating the same side 3-0 on Sept. 2.

Alvechurch (3-8-3) arrives with modest form after a 2-1 win at Peterborough Sports on April 4. That result snapped a string of five matches without a victory. Prior to that, the Church were hammered 7-0 at Leiston on March 14 and played to a 0-0 draw at Yeovil Town on Jan. 10. Alvechurch drew 2-2 at Alfreton Town on Dec. 13 and held Real Bedford to a 1-1 draw on Nov. 15. They also recorded a 0-0 draw at Worcester City on Oct. 25 and a 0-0 draw at Basford United on Oct. 4. The team’s only convincing win this season came Aug. 30, a 4-2 victory at Barwell.

The teams have not met this season. Alvechurch’s offense has struggled, scoring only nine goals in 14 games, while Halesowen has netted 20.

Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. local time. The winner advances in the FA Cup, a competition known for producing upsets. Alvechurch will look to defy the odds, while Halesowen aims to protect home pitch at The Grove.
