(Interstat) — Sogndal defeated Sarpsborg 08 in a NOR: NM Cupen match Sunday at Fosshaugane Campus, overcoming a hat trick from Sarpsborg’s Kristian Fardal Opseth. The visiting attacker opened the scoring in the 10th minute, but Sogndal responded with three first-half goals from Jónatan Ingi Jónsson, Isaac Twum and Per-Egil Flo. Opseth scored twice more in the second half to complete his hat trick, but an 89th-minute own goal by Sogndal defender Flo concluded the scoring. The result marked a surprising upset, as statistical models heavily favored Sarpsborg 08 to win. Sogndal advances in the Norwegian cup competition.
