KOKSHETAU, Kazakhstan (Interstat) — Kyzyl-Zhar defeated Ordabasy 2-1 on Sunday in a Week 11 Kazakhstan Premier League match at Stadion Jastar. The result defied statistical projections that favored the visitors.

Hossein Shahabi opened the scoring for the hosts in the ninth minute, followed by a Reza Shekari goal in the 21st. Ordabasy’s Bernardo Matić headed in a consolation goal in the third minute of second-half stoppage time.

The loss leaves Ordabasy with a 0-1 record in league play, while Kyzyl-Zhar improved to 1-0. Interstat’s pre-game simulator had projected a 1-0 win for Ordabasy, which was given a 56 percent probability to win by its ELO system.
