LUGAZI, Uganda (Interstat) — URA defeated Gaddafi 2-1 on Sunday in a CAF Confederation Cup group stage match at Mehta Stadium.

Midfielder Sofian El Moudane powered the home side, scoring twice. He opened the scoring in the first minute and added a headed goal in the 50th. Gaddafi’s lone reply came from substitute Aboubacar Diarra late in the match. El Moudane and two Gaddafi substitutes received yellow cards in stoppage time.

The victory improved URA’s record to 2-0 in the competition, while Gaddafi fell to 0-1. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat that favored URA but predicted a 1-0 win for Gaddafi. The teams are scheduled to meet again next Sunday in CAF Champions League play.
