KARLOVAC, Croatia (Interstat) — Heerenveen U21 routed Go Ahead Eagles U21 6-0 on Saturday in a UEFA Under-19 Championship qualification match that wildly defied pregame projections.

Playing at Stadion Branko Čavlović-Čavlek, the home side scored early and often. Midfielder Gabrijela Prkačin opened the scoring in the 6th minute. Teammates Valentina Akrap and Antonela Grgic added goals before midfielder Luana Vanjak scored twice, including a strike just before halftime. Lea Alajbegović capped the dominant performance with a goal in stoppage time.

The lopsided result contradicted statistical forecasts, which had given Go Ahead Eagles a slight win probability and projected a 1-1 draw. Prkačin received the match’s only yellow card in the 75th minute. The victory in this NED: U21 Divisie 2 fixture gives Heerenveen a winning start to its campaign.
