Telsiai at Kedainiu
KEDAINIU, Lithuania (Interstat) — Telsiai will try to remain unbeaten Saturday when it visits Kedainiu in a basketball matchup between teams heading in opposite directions early this season.
Telsiai brings a 3-0 record into the game. Kedainiu is 1-2. Telsiai has opened with three wins, most recently an 83-72 home victory over Mazeikiai. D. Morton-Robertson Q. powered the offense with 24 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists in 34 minutes. Tadas Budrys added 15 points and 8 rebounds, while Julius Kazakauskas contributed 12 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
Morton-Robertson has been the central figure for Telsiai. In a 90-70 win over Plunges Olimpas, he scored 18 points with 2 rebounds and 3 assists. In a 91-77 win at Rytas 2, he finished with 27 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. His ability to score and create for others makes him the primary concern for Kedainiu’s defense.
Kedainiu enters after a 73-60 road win at Silute. Ignas Lukosius did a bit of everything in that victory, posting 10 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 blocks in 24 minutes. Paulius Semaska scored 16 points with 5 rebounds and 6 assists, and Amir Malek added 8 points and 11 rebounds.
Lukosius has been productive throughout the early schedule. He had 8 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block in a loss to BC Olimpas Palanga, then recorded 15 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 blocks in a loss at Omega-Tauras. His rebounding and shot-blocking give Kedainiu an interior presence.
Telsiai’s 3-0 start has been built on efficient offense. The team has scored at least 83 points in each win and has won by margins of 14, 20 and 11 points. Kedainiu has allowed at least 94 points in both losses and will need a stronger defensive effort. Lukosius and Malek give Kedainiu size inside, while Semaska helps organize the offense. Telsiai’s backcourt production and balanced scoring have been key. Kedainiu’s best path may be through Lukosius on the glass and Semaska creating shots for others. Telsiai has been the more consistent team so far, but Kedainiu won its most recent game and will have home support.
Kedainiu will need to control tempo and limit turnovers to stay close. Telsiai will look to push the pace and get Morton-Robertson into rhythm early. The matchup could hinge on whether Kedainiu can protect the paint and rebound against Telsiai’s active frontcourt. Both teams have shown they can score, and the pace could decide the outcome.
A game simulator projects Telsiai as a 7-point favorite, with an over-under of 159.5. The model gives Telsiai a strong edge based on its perfect start and recent scoring form, while Kedainiu will try to build on its latest win.
