KAUNAS, Lithuania (Interstat) — Zalgiris beat Vilkaviskis 107-104 on Thursday at Zalgiris Arena, improving to 6-2 while Vilkaviskis fell to 0-1. Ignas Stombergas led Zalgiris with 22 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocks. Emilis Bartninkas paced Vilkaviskis with 27 points and nine rebounds. Dominykas Grunkis added 18 points and 14 assists for Zalgiris. Jokubas Kukta scored 18 points. Jordan Stafford contributed 19 points, five rebounds and five assists for Vilkaviskis. Justinas Marcinkevicius scored 18 points, and Paulius Danisevicius added 17 points and eight assists. Dominykas Urbonavicius added 11 points for Zalgiris, and Dovydas Jakstonis scored 10. Majus Bulanovas had 18 points for Zalgiris. Vilkaviskis scored 21 points in the second quarter and 27 in the third, while Zalgiris posted 28 in each of the first two quarters and 22 in the third. Zalgiris used a 29-point fourth quarter to secure the win after Vilkaviskis scored 23 in the final period. Vilkaviskis led 33-28 after the first quarter, but Zalgiris rallied behind balanced scoring and Stombergas’ interior defense.
