ISTANBUL (Interstat) — Galatasaray defeated visiting Cayirova 102-79 on Saturday in Turkish BSL play at Abdi Ipekci Arena. Galatasaray improved to 1-0, while Cayirova fell to 0-1. Cayirova led 55-52 at halftime, but Galatasaray used a 24-6 third quarter to take control. Galatasaray led 76-61 after three quarters. The visitors did not lead in the second half. Jordon Crawford paced Cayirova with 21 points, 11 assists and three rebounds. Alen Smailagic, Galatasaray’s top star, had 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists and one block. Chimezie Metu added 13 points, nine rebounds, six assists and one block. Jeremy Simmons had 14 points and six rebounds for Cayirova, while Fabian White scored 20. Sehmus Hazer scored 15 points and Dyshawn Pierre had 16 for Galatasaray. Jerome Robinson contributed 11 points, Can Korkmaz 10 and Nikola Ivanovic six points and five assists. Galatasaray’s decisive third quarter turned a close game into a comfortable home victory.
