Koblenz holds off Paderborn for road basketball victory
PADERBORN, Germany (Interstat) — Koblenz held off Paderborn for an 88-86 road victory Saturday at Sportzentrum Maspernplatz. Koblenz improved to 3-1, while Paderborn dropped to 1-3. The visitors built their advantage with a 29-point second quarter after scoring 23 in the first. Koblenz added 21 points in the third and 15 in the fourth. Paderborn scored 20 in the opening quarter, 25 in the second and 18 in the third before rallying with 23 in the fourth. The home side’s late push fell just short as Koblenz secured the win. The game stayed close into the closing minutes, and Koblenz made enough plays down the stretch to protect its lead. Paderborn’s final-quarter rally came after a steady offensive effort, but the hosts could not complete the comeback. Earlier this season, Koblenz defeated Artland and Bayreuth and lost to Nürnberger BC. Paderborn beat Köln and fell to Bremerhaven and Bochum. Koblenz next plays at Wolmirstedt, while Paderborn visits Kirchheim.
