Hapoel Tel Aviv at Panathinaikos

MAROUSI, Greece (Interstat) — Panathinaikos will put its unbeaten record on the line Friday when it hosts Hapoel Tel Aviv at Olympic Indoor Hall in Marousi, Greece.

Panathinaikos enters 7-0 and has been one of the season’s most dominant teams. The Greek club is coming off a 72-55 road win at Partizan and has won each of its first seven games by double digits. It has held all seven opponents under 80 points. Its latest home results include a 92-74 win over Fenerbache Koleji, a 103-74 win over Vikos Ioanninon, a 90-67 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv and a 102-79 win over ASVEL. Panathinaikos also opened its season with a 91-72 home win over Paris.

Konstantinos Mitoglou is the player to watch for Panathinaikos. The forward has been efficient in recent appearances, posting 10 points and 10 rebounds in 18 minutes during a road win over Promitheas Patras, after scoring 14 points with four rebounds in 19 minutes against Vikos. His interior presence and rebounding will be central to Panathinaikos’ approach.

Hapoel Tel Aviv enters 4-2 and has shown the ability to score against strong competition. The Israeli club is coming off a 100-82 home win over Besiktas. Hapoel Tel Aviv also owns wins this season over Crvena Zvezda, Real Madrid and Hapoel Beer Sheva. Its two losses came against Bayern and Valencia, both in close games. The Israeli club has scored at least 95 points in three of its four wins. Hapoel Tel Aviv’s offense has topped 100 points in two of its last three games, and its road win at Crvena Zvezda showed it can perform in a hostile environment.

The matchup features contrasting form. Panathinaikos has been perfect and has leaned on defense and balance, while Hapoel Tel Aviv has been productive on offense and competitive in a difficult schedule. Panathinaikos’ home-court advantage at Olympic Indoor Hall could be significant, but Hapoel Tel Aviv has enough scoring to keep the game competitive if it limits turnovers and controls the defensive glass.

For Panathinaikos, a win would keep its perfect start intact before upcoming games against Peristeri and Baskonia. For Hapoel Tel Aviv, a road victory would be one of its strongest results of the young season and would improve its standing before returning home to face Maccabi Ashdod and Virtus Bologna.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Panathinaikos 83, Hapoel Tel Aviv 76. Panathinaikos has been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -8. The over/under for this game is 169.5.
