Nova Hut Ostrava at Ariete Prostejov

PROSTĚJOV, Czechia (Interstat) — Nova Hut Ostrava will put its unbeaten start on the line Sunday when it visits Ariete Prostejov in Czech NBL play at Sportcentrum Prostejov-DDM in Prostějov, Czechia.

Ostrava enters 2-0 after a home win over JBC MMCITE Brno, 85-76. Andre Screen led the way with 26 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and three blocks in 29 minutes. Adam Ciz added four points, nine rebounds and eight assists, while Michal Svoboda scored 13 points and grabbed four rebounds. Ostrava also won at Opava 89-77 earlier this season, with Screen scoring 24 points and adding six rebounds and one block in 25 minutes.

Screen has been the primary offensive constant for Ostrava. His ability to score around the rim and protect the basket will be central to Ostrava’s plans against a Prostejov team still seeking its first win.

Ariete Prostejov is 0-2 after a 100-54 home loss to JIP Pardubice. Asa Nathaniel Williams had seven points, two rebounds and five assists in 27 minutes. Matthew Hinckson Christian scored six points and added four rebounds, while Ethan Garita finished with eight points, four rebounds, one assist and one block. Prostejov also dropped an 81-93 decision to GAPA Hradec at home. Williams scored 13 points with six rebounds and three assists in that game, while he remains the top backcourt option for the hosts.

Williams will need to help Prostejov handle Ostrava’s pressure and create scoring chances. The home side has struggled defensively through two games, allowing 100 and 93 points. Ostrava, meanwhile, has scored 85 and 89 points and has shown balance with Screen inside and Ciz and Svoboda contributing on the perimeter. Ciz’s playmaking was especially valuable in the Brno win, when he finished one assist shy of a double-double.

The matchup features contrasting starts. Ostrava is looking to remain near the top of the early Czech NBL standings, while Prostejov is trying to build momentum and avoid an 0-3 start. Ostrava’s recent wins have come by nine and 12 points, and the team has scored efficiently in both. Prostejov has yet to find consistent offense, but Williams and Garita give the hosts options if they can settle into the game early.

The game is part of the Czech NBL schedule and will be played at Sportcentrum Prostejov-DDM. Ostrava will return to action against GAPA Hradec, while Prostejov will travel to Slavia Prague ERA NBK in its next scheduled game. The immediate focus for both sides is the Sunday meeting in Prostějov.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Nova Hut Ostrava 94, Ariete Prostejov 91.
