BADAJOZ, Spain (Interstat) — Badajoz held off visiting Jaen Paraiso 89-85 on Saturday, using a balanced offensive effort and timely fourth-quarter defense to secure its first win of the season. Jaen Paraiso trailed by six at halftime and by seven after three quarters, then surged in the final period with 27 points. Badajoz answered with 24 points in the fourth to preserve the victory. Badajoz improved to 1-1, while Jaen Paraiso dropped to 1-1. Jaen Paraiso had opened its season with a win over Getafe, and Badajoz had lost its previous game at Algeciras. Badajoz will next face Valladolid, while Jaen Paraiso will host Caceres. The game remained competitive throughout, with both teams battling before Badajoz made the decisive plays down the stretch. The visitors remained within striking distance until the closing minutes, but Jaen Paraiso’s late rally fell short as Badajoz converted key possessions and protected its home court.
