ST. PETERSBURG (Interstat) — Zenit Petersburg defeated visiting Parma Basket Perm 99-85 on Wednesday, pulling away in the second half behind a decisive third quarter. Parma led 25-20 after the first quarter, but Zenit moved ahead 45-44 at halftime. The home team then outscored Parma 31-22 in the third and 23-19 in the fourth to secure the win. Parma scored 25 in the first, 19 in the second, 22 in the third and 19 in the fourth. Zenit scored 20 in the first, 25 in the second, 31 in the third and 23 in the fourth. Zenit improved to 2-1 this season, while Parma fell to 1-1. Parma had opened its season with a win at UNICS Kazan. Zenit had beaten Uralmash at home before falling at UNICS Kazan. Zenit next hosts Avtodor Saratov, while Parma visits Uralmash. Zenit outscored Parma 54-41 after halftime. Parma stayed competitive early but could not match Zenit’s second-half run.
