KOBLENZ, Germany (Interstat) — Koblenz defeated Bayreuth 109-90 on Sunday in a German Pro A game. The home side opened with a 27-18 first-quarter advantage and led 54-46 at halftime. Bayreuth used a 28-point second quarter, but Koblenz answered with 27 points in each of the first two periods. After Bayreuth scored 20 points in the third quarter, Koblenz added 25 to keep control. The visitors then scored 24 points in the fourth quarter, while Koblenz closed with 30 points to secure the victory. Bayreuth finished with 18 points in the first quarter. Koblenz also received steady production throughout the second half and maintained its advantage down the stretch. Koblenz improved to 1-0 in the early season, while Bayreuth fell to 0-1. Koblenz will next face Nürnberger BC and Artland. Bayreuth will meet PS Karlsruhe and Kirchheim. Both teams continue German Pro A play.
