Anadolu Efes at Bordo

BODRUM, Turkey (Interstat) — Anadolu Efes will try to halt a brief slide when it visits Bordo on Sunday in a basketball matchup. The visiting Efes bring a 4-2 record into the game, while Bordo is 0-1 and still seeking its first victory of the season.

Anadolu Efes most recently lost 77-72 at Crvena Zvezda. Before that defeat, Efes beat Real Madrid 94-84, defeated Besiktas 95-81, lost at Barcelona 89-82, won at Lokomotiv Kuban 88-82 and won at Zenit St. Petersburg 100-76. The results show an offense capable of big scoring nights, but also a team that has been vulnerable on the road against strong opposition. Efes has won four of six games, with its losses coming at Barcelona and Crvena Zvezda. Bordo dropped its opener at Tofas by one point.

Dario Saric is the player to watch for Anadolu Efes. In a 95-81 win over Besiktas, Saric finished with 16 points, four rebounds and one block in 25 minutes. He had 15 points, six rebounds and two assists in 29 minutes during an 88-82 win at Lokomotiv Kuban. Saric also contributed 12 points, six rebounds and four assists in 21 minutes in a 100-76 win at Zenit St. Petersburg. His ability to score inside and outside, rebound and create for teammates gives Efes a versatile frontcourt option.

Bordo will counter with Peterson QJ, who has been the team’s most productive player early. In Bordo’s most recent game, a 90-89 loss at Tofas, QJ scored 31 points in 31 minutes and added three rebounds and four assists. Zachary Hankins added 17 points and seven rebounds, while Boubacar Toure had eight points and eight rebounds in that game. Bordo will need QJ to remain aggressive and receive similar support from Hankins and Toure to challenge Efes.

The matchup could be decided by pace and defense. Anadolu Efes has the deeper and more experienced roster, but Bordo has shown it can score through QJ. Efes will aim to contain QJ and avoid a second straight loss. Bordo will look to use home energy and timely shooting to secure its first win.

After Sunday’s game, Anadolu Efes is scheduled to visit Olympiacos, host Denizli Basket, host Bayern, visit Zalgiris, visit Esenler, host Besiktas, host Korfez Basket, visit Hapoel Tel Aviv and visit Aliağa Petkim, among other games. Bordo will visit Trabzonspor, host Turk Telekom, visit Galatasaray, host Bahcesehir Kol., visit Cayirova, host Pinar, visit Bursaspor, host Besiktas and host Fenerbache Koleji, among other matchups.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Bordo 81, Anadolu Efes 72.
