KAUNAS, Lithuania (Interstat) — Olympiacos defeated Zalgiris 93-91 on Tuesday in a Euroleague game at Zalgiris Arena. The visiting Olympiacos improved to 3-0, while Zalgiris slipped to 5-1. Olympiacos built a 23-20 edge after the first quarter, took a 43-39 halftime advantage, then extended its lead with a 29-point third quarter. Zalgiris rallied with 24 fourth-quarter points but could not complete the comeback. Azuolas Tubelis had 19 points, seven rebounds and three assists for Zalgiris. Aleksandar Vezenkov, Olympiacos’s top star, recorded 18 points, eight rebounds and one assist. Jean Montero added 15 points, three rebounds and seven assists, while Evan Fournier scored 19 points. Jonas Valanciunas contributed 11 points, six rebounds, seven assists and one block for Zalgiris, and Sterling Brown scored 20 points. Carsen Edwards added 16 points, four assists and one rebound for Zalgiris. Tyson Ward finished with 10 points and five rebounds for Olympiacos, and Marius Grigonis had nine points and five rebounds for Zalgiris.
