Netanya vs. Ironi Nes Ziona
NESS ZIONA, Israel (Interstat) — The Israeli BSL season winds down Sunday as Ironi Nes Ziona hosts Netanya at Lev HaMoshava Arena, a matchup between two clubs fighting for momentum near the bottom of the standings.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. local time.
Ironi Nes Ziona (12-21) enters on a modest surge, having won three of its last four contests. The home side most recently defeated Netanya 91-84 on Tuesday, June 9, a result that snapped a two-game losing skid. In that victory, guard Bryce Brown led the way with 22 points on 36 minutes of action, adding two rebounds and an assist. Brown has been the offensive engine for Nes Ziona, averaging 18 points over his last six outings, including a 30-point eruption against Maccabi Raanana on June 2.
Netanya (8-25) arrives mired in a difficult campaign, having dropped five of its last six decisions. The visiting side’s only win in that stretch came May 27 at Hapoel Beer Sheva, 83-79. In Tuesday’s rematch with Nes Ziona, Netanya’s Cameron Oliver posted a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, but it was not enough to avoid the loss.
Oliver, a forward, remains a key figure for the Netanya attack. Over his last four appearances, he has averaged 10.3 points and 7.3 rebounds. He recorded a season-worst five points in a June 6 loss at Maccabi Raanana but bounced back with the productive outing against Nes Ziona.
The season series has been competitive, with each side claiming a victory. In the most recent three meetings, the teams have alternated wins: Nes Ziona took the June 9 contest, Netanya won 95-91 on Jan. 23, and Nes Ziona secured an 86-78 victory on Nov. 15.
For Nes Ziona, the return of forward Marques Bolden has provided interior stability. Bolden logged 14 points and nine rebounds in Tuesday’s win. Jackson Rowe also contributed 21 points in the same game.
Netanya will look to small forward Otis Frazier, who matched Oliver with 20 points and five rebounds in Tuesday’s loss. Maurice Kemp added 21 points and seven boards.
Sunday’s game marks the final scheduled meeting between the clubs this regular season.
