Panathinaikos vs. Mykonos

MYKONOS, Greece (Interstat) — Panathinaikos, owners of a commanding 44-24 record, visits Mykonos on Sunday in a Greek HEBA A1 matchup that pits the league’s elite against a struggling opponent searching for consistency.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Mykonos Sports Hall. The game is the second in as many days between the teams; they met Saturday in Athens, though that result was not immediately available.

Panathinaikos enters having won its last meeting against Mykonos 99-75 on Friday, May 15, and two of the past three head-to-head contests overall. Mykonos, at 9-16, has lost four consecutive games and dropped eight of its last 10.

For Panathinaikos, forward Kostas Mitoglou is a key player to watch. In Friday’s win over Mykonos, Mitoglou posted 24 points, four rebounds and two assists in 18 minutes. He also recorded 16 points and five rebounds in a 97-76 victory against Mykonos on April 25. Mitoglou has been inconsistent in other recent contests, playing limited minutes in EuroLeague losses to Valencia, but his production against Mykonos this season has been significant.

Mykonos will counter with center Justin Briggs, who recorded a double-double in Friday’s loss with 19 points and 11 rebounds in 23 minutes. In the April 25 defeat to Panathinaikos, Briggs grabbed nine rebounds but scored only two points in 11 minutes. He has been a bright spot for a Mykonos team that has struggled to compete defensively, allowing 99 points per game in its two most recent matchups with Panathinaikos.

The head-to-head series this season heavily favors Panathinaikos. On Nov. 22, 2025, Panathinaikos won 78-65 at Mykonos. The two teams then met twice in April and May, with Panathinaikos winning 97-76 and 99-75, respectively.

Panathinaikos’ overall form includes a mix of EuroLeague results, including an overtime win at Valencia on April 30 and a recent 64-81 loss at Valencia on Wednesday. Mykonos’ last victory came April 18 against Peristeri, 92-88.

Sunday’s game offers Mykonos a chance to reverse its fortunes, but Panathinaikos remains the heavy favorite behind Mitoglou and a deep roster that includes guards Marius Grigonis and Vasilis Toliopoulos, who combined for 30 points in Friday’s win.
