Zlatorog vs. KK Cedevita

LJUBLJANA, Slovenia (Interstat) — KK Cedevita hosts Zlatorog on Sunday at Arena Stozice in a Slovenian SKL matchup, with the home team looking to build on a dominant season and the visitors seeking to snap a recent slide.

KK Cedevita (31-20) enters the game after a 95-86 loss at Crvena Zvezda on Friday, though it had won three of its previous four contests. The team boasts a deep roster led by forward Matthew Hurt, who scored 16 points and grabbed four rebounds in that defeat. In his last five games, the 6-foot-9 American has averaged 11.0 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting efficiently. Hurt also posted 14 points and two rebounds in a 102-88 win over Igokea on April 19, and he had 11 points and four rebounds in a 89-76 road win at Zlatorog on May 9.

That victory was the most recent head-to-head meeting between the two clubs, with KK Cedevita prevailing 89-76 despite a gritty outing from Zlatorog’s Filip Horvat. The forward logged six points, eight rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes in that game. Horvat, a 6-8 power forward, has been a consistent presence for Zlatorog (11-18) even as the team has struggled. Over his last five outings, he averaged 10.2 points and 7.0 rebounds. His best performance came in a 78-79 loss at Terme Olimia on April 20, when he scored 22 points and added four rebounds.

Zlatorog has dropped six of its last seven games, including a 67-87 defeat at Hopsi on April 25 and a 73-74 home loss to Triglav on April 30. The lone win in that stretch was an 80-76 home victory over Rogaska Crystal on May 4, when Horvat posted 13 points and five rebounds. Horvat will need support from guards Gal Cop and Nigel Scantlebury, who combined for 27 points in the May 9 loss to KK Cedevita. Cop had 15 points and three assists, while Scantlebury added 12 points and nine assists.

KK Cedevita, meanwhile, has excelled at home and features a balanced attack. Guard Aleksej Nikolic scored 17 points in Friday’s loss to Crvena Zvezda, and forward David Skara added 12 points and six rebounds. The team’s depth has been a key factor in its 31-win campaign. Tipoff is scheduled for Sunday evening at Arena Stozice, a 12,480-seat arena in the Slovenian capital.
