Borac Nektar vs. Siroki

SIROKI BRIJEG, Bosnia-Herzegovina (Interstat) — The Bosnian BiH Liga’s top two teams meet Saturday when first-place Borac Nektar visits second-place Siroki at Pecara.

Borac Nektar (24-4) holds a two-game lead over Siroki (22-6) with about a month left in the regular season. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. local time.

The rivals split their two previous meetings this season, each winning on the other’s home floor. Siroki earned an 89-87 victory April 18 in Široki Brijeg, while Borac Nektar won 78-76 on Jan. 10 at home. Siroki also won the most recent matchup, 82-76, on May 3 in Banja Luka.

Borac Nektar enters on a two-game winning streak, most recently defeating KK Jamorina 91-79 on Wednesday. Forward Srdjan Adamovic posted 24 points, nine rebounds and two assists in 24 minutes in that game. Adamovic, a swingman who has averaged 17 points and six rebounds in two games against Siroki this season, is a key contributor. Over his last five outings, he has scored at least 14 points four times, including a 17-point, six-rebound effort in the May 3 loss to Siroki.

Siroki, however, has lost two straight (Interstat) — an 84-72 defeat to Sloboda Tuzla on Wednesday and an 88-91 loss to KK Jamorina on May 9. Forward Jalyn McCreary has been a consistent force despite the slide. McCreary registered 14 points and nine rebounds in the loss to Sloboda and scored 22 points with eight boards against Jamorina. In the May 3 win over Borac Nektar, he produced 23 points and eight rebounds. Over his last five games, the power forward has averaged 17.2 points and 6.8 rebounds.

Siroki’s backcourt features D’Mitrik Trice, who had 17 points and six assists in Wednesday’s loss. Borac Nektar counters with center Dusan Makitan, who posted 16 points and nine rebounds against Jamorina.

Saturday’s game carries significant playoff seeding implications. A Borac Nektar victory would push its lead to three games, while a Siroki win would pull the hosts within one game of the top spot. Both teams have shown they can win away from home (Interstat) — Borac Nektar is 11-3 on the road, and Siroki is 10-4 at Pecara. The crowd in Široki Brijeg is expected to be near capacity for the critical divisional matchup.
