Morón vs. Sant Antoni
SANT ANTONI, Spain (Interstat) — Sant Antoni, boasting the Spanish Segunda FEB’s second-best record, hosts Morón on Saturday, May 16, in a critical late-season clash between teams trending in opposite directions.
Sant Antoni (23-6) enters the matchup riding a wave of dominance, having won nine of its last 10 games. The home side’s most recent outing was a resounding 98-67 victory at Morón on May 9, a game in which guard Kai Johnson posted a stat line of 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 35 minutes. The win was emblematic of Sant Antoni’s depth and balance. In that contest, center Emil Stoilov added 14 points and seven rebounds, while forward Rodrigo Gomez Barral chipped in 13 points and six boards.
Morón (18-12) arrives having dropped three of its last four contests. The lone bright spot in that stretch was an 87-72 home win over Gandia on April 26. However, the team has struggled to contain Sant Antoni’s high-powered attack, as evidenced by the 31-point defeat one week ago.
Two players will carry the bulk of attention on Saturday.
For Sant Antoni, Kai Johnson has been a consistent force. Over his last four games, he has averaged 14.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists. He posted a season-high 22 points in a win at Caceres on April 25, shooting efficiently from the field.
Morón’s Javier Marin, a point guard, has been a steady but not dominant contributor. In the May 9 loss to Sant Antoni, Marin played 25 minutes and scored 14 points with five rebounds and three assists. In his prior three outings, he posted 3, 11 and 14 points, respectively, while averaging over 20 minutes per game.
Saturday’s matchup marks the second meeting between the teams this season. Sant Antoni took the first contest handily, and with home-court advantage and momentum on its side, the club will look to sweep the season series. Morón will need a sharper defensive effort and more consistent scoring beyond Marin to pull the upset.
