Targu Mures vs. Mures
TARGU MURES, Romania (Interstat) — Targu Mures visits Mures on Saturday in a Romanian Divizia A matchup at Sala Sporturilor Targu Mures, a game with little playoff implications but plenty of recent history between the two sides.
Targu Mures enters with a 16-17 record, while Mures sits at 4-29, last in the league. The visiting team has won three of the four head-to-head meetings this season, including a 108-87 victory Tuesday and a 92-91 win Sunday — both at home. The lone win for Mures came March 21, an 82-78 decision on its own floor.
Targu Mures will rely on forward Trey Diggs, who has been productive in recent games. Against Mures on Tuesday, Diggs scored 21 points with six rebounds and three assists in 22 minutes. He followed with 19 points and two rebounds Sunday. Over his last six games, Diggs has averaged 16.3 points, shooting efficiently from the floor. He also posted 22 points and two rebounds in a narrow loss to Municipal Ploiesti on April 24.
Mures counters with guard Collin Cooper, a consistent contributor despite the team’s struggles. Cooper logged 14 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in Tuesday’s loss, and had 14 points, five rebounds and five assists in Sunday’s defeat. In five games this month, Cooper has averaged 13.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists while playing heavy minutes — including two 40-minute outings against Valcea in late April.
Mures has lost nine of its last 10 games, the only win coming March 25 at Atlassib Sibiu. Targu Mures has split its last 10, with wins over Mures twice and an overtime victory at Pitesti on April 18.
Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. local time.
