Porto visits Imortal Albufeira in LPB matchup

ALBUFEIRA, Portugal (Interstat) — Porto visits Imortal Albufeira on Thursday in a Portuguese LPB regular-season game at Pavilhão de Albufeira, with both teams looking to build momentum in the final stretch of the season.

Porto (18-12) enters as the stronger side, sitting above .500 and coming off a dominant 88-66 home win over Imortal Albufeira on May 10. That victory improved Porto’s record against its opponent this season to 2-1, with the other two meetings decided by narrow margins: Porto won 99-88 at home on Feb. 14 and edged Imortal 93-92 on the road on Nov. 1, 2025.

Imortal Albufeira (9-14) has struggled for consistency, losing four of its last five games, including an 86-85 overtime defeat at Esgueira on April 4 and a 78-73 loss at Oliveirense on April 18. Its most recent win came April 25 at home against SC Portugal 64-61, snapping a three-game skid.

A key figure for Porto is guard Tanner Omlid, whose recent performances have been steady. In the May 10 win over Imortal, Omlid logged 22 minutes, scoring 14 points with seven rebounds, one assist and one block. Two games earlier, he posted 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks in 21 minutes during an 85-86 loss to Esgueira on April 25.

For Imortal, guard Fred Thomas has been a leading scorer. In the May 10 loss at Porto, Thomas played 28 minutes and recorded 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one block. He scored five points with five rebounds in 22 minutes in the win over SC Portugal, but managed just one rebound in 15 minutes in the April 18 defeat at Oliveirense.

Porto’s recent form shows highs and lows. Besides the win over Imortal, Porto lost 86-85 to Esgueira on April 25 but earlier routed Braga 82-68 on April 18 and beat Galitos Barreiro 82-74 on April 11. A 60-83 loss at Ovarense Dolce Vita on April 4 snapped a three-game winning streak.

Imortal’s schedule has been tough, with its last win before the SC Portugal game coming March 28 against Braga 80-73. Losses to Benfica (105-95 on Feb. 7) and Vitoria (82-77 on Jan. 31) highlight the team’s defensive struggles.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. local time.
