Gaziantep vs. Konyaspor

KONYA, Türkiye (Interstat) — Gaziantep visits Konyaspor on Wednesday in a Turkish TBL matchup with significant playoff implications. Tipoff is at Selcuk Universitesi 19 Mayis SS.

Gaziantep (28-8) owns the league’s second-best record and brings a balanced attack that has won four of its last five games. The visitors are coming off an 80-71 home victory Sunday against these same Konyaspor, a win that extended their lead in the standings. In that game, forward Rijad Aydin scored 20 points with four rebounds, one assist and one block in just 14 minutes, leading the team in scoring efficiency. Aydin, a key two-way player, has been inconsistent recently: he logged only five minutes in a loss to Kahramanmaras on April 30 but responded with eight points and three assists in a narrow defeat at Kahramanmaras on April 18. Gaziantep leans heavily on guard Nemanja Nenadic (16 points, six rebounds, seven assists in the May 10 win) and forward Zeljko Sakic (14 points, four rebounds, four assists).

Konyaspor (23-13) sits fifth in the TBL and is seeking to avenge two home losses to Gaziantep this season. The hosts dropped an 80-71 decision on Sunday and lost 81-71 at home on Jan. 26, though they did defeat Gaziantep 84-79 on Oct. 5, 2025, in Konya. The home team enters Wednesday having alternated wins and losses over its past six games, most recently a 91-63 rout of Fenerbache Koleji on May 6. Guard Alp Karahan has been a workhorse for Konyaspor, averaging nearly 36 minutes over his last two outings. He posted 12 points, nine rebounds and six assists in Sunday’s loss to Gaziantep, and earlier this month he registered 16 points, three rebounds and seven assists in a 93-98 loss at Fenerbache Koleji. Forward Chris Coffey (10 points, 13 rebounds) and point guard New Williams (23 points, four rebounds, two assists) also contributed heavily in Sunday’s defeat.

A tight defensive battle is anticipated. Gaziantep allows 76.4 points per game, while Konyaspor scores 82.1 at home. The visitors’ depth and Aydin’s quick-strike ability could prove decisive. Konyaspor will need Karahan to control the tempo and limit turnovers after committing 14 in the last meeting. Wednesday’s result could shift the playoff seeding in the final weeks of the regular season.
