LISBON (Interstat) — Benfica defeated Braga 90-72 on Saturday at Pavilhao Imperio Bonanca, improving to 22-7 in the Portuguese LPB. Aleksander Dziewa led the home team with 23 points and six rebounds. Rasaq Yussuf added 15 points and six rebounds. Justice Sueing scored 13 points with four rebounds and four assists. Geno Crandall contributed seven points, eight rebounds and six assists. Aaron Broussard had seven points and six assists. Koby McEwen added eight points. Braga, which fell to 8-14, was led by Ricardo Monteiro’s double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. Mike Fofana scored 12 points, Moussa Kone had eight points and six rebounds, and Carlos Cardoso dished eight assists. Benfica dominated at the free-throw line, making 33 of 41 attempts, while Braga shot 14 of 20. Benfica also outrebounded Braga 42-37 and committed just nine turnovers to Braga’s 16. The victory followed Benfica’s 108-77 win over Braga on Apr. 11.
