Cuore Napoli vs. Reggiana
REGGIO EMILIA, Italy (Interstat) — Guard Milton Doyle and Cuore Napoli aim to build momentum Sunday against a surging Reggiana squad in a Lega Basket Serie A matchup at PalaBigi.
Tipoff is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, 2026. Cuore Napoli (10-18) enters after an 84-74 victory over Trento on April 25. Doyle led the way with 26 points, four rebounds and one assist in 25 minutes. The win snapped a two-game losing streak for Napoli, which had fallen to Olimpia Milano and Brescia. Over his past three games, Doyle is averaging 16 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists.
Reggiana (22-21) brings a three-game winning streak into the contest, most recently defeating Tortona 88-69 on April 26. Point guard Jaylen Barford scored 23 points with three rebounds and an assist in that victory. Barford has been consistent, averaging 13.3 points over his last three outings while shooting efficiently from the floor.
The teams split their two meetings this season. Napoli won 95-87 at home on Oct. 26, 2025, while Reggiana claimed a 0-0 result on Saturday in what was listed as a forfeit or administrative decision. The Oct. 26 game featured strong performances from both Doyle and Barford.
Sunday’s game carries playoff implications for both sides. Reggiana sits in the middle of the standings and hopes to improve its seeding. Napoli, near the bottom, seeks to climb out of the relegation zone.
For Napoli, guard Ishmael El-Amin added 16 points and five rebounds against Trento, and center Leonardo Tote contributed 16 points, two rebounds and four blocks. Their production will be critical against a Reggiana team that spreads the scoring load. Against Tortona, Troy Caupain posted 17 points and eight assists, and Jaime Echenique added 12 points and six rebounds.
Cuore Napoli’s recent road form has been shaky. The team has lost its last two away games, falling 125-97 to Olimpia Milano and 100-85 to Brescia. Reggiana, meanwhile, has won three of its last four home games.
After Sunday, both teams play on May 9. Napoli hosts Udine, while Reggiana visits Treviso.
