LONDON (Interstat) — The London Lions defeated the Newcastle Eagles 88-69 on Sunday at Copper Box Arena, improving to 33-18 while Newcastle fell to 12-20. London controlled possession with an offensive rating of 119.8, shooting 32 of 73 from the floor and holding Newcastle to 21 of 56 shooting. The Lions outrebounded the Eagles 41-34 and committed only four turnovers to Newcastle’s 12.

Aaryn Rai posted a triple-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. Shavar Reynolds added 10 points and 10 assists. Chaundee Brown and Amin Adamu each contributed eight and 10 points respectively. For Newcastle, Emmanuel Kanwei scored 18 points with nine rebounds. Cole Long had 14 points and seven boards. Josh Ward-Hibbert, a Nottingham native, tallied 11 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Deion Hammond scored 14 points and Gus Okafor added 12.

London swept the season series, having won four previous meetings including a 90-72 victory two days earlier. Newcastle’s offensive rating of 91.8 reflected poor efficiency, converting only six of 26 three-point attempts.
