Ormanspor Genc vs. Goztepe
ISTANBUL (Interstat) — Goztepe hosts Ormanspor Genc on Saturday in a Turkish TBL matchup that could tighten the standings, with both teams separated by one game in the win column.
Goztepe (22-13) holds a one-game edge over Ormanspor Genc (21-13) entering the 2 p.m. local time tipoff. The teams met Wednesday, with Goztepe winning 92-90 on the road in overtime. That result gave Goztepe a 2-1 lead in the season series, with each of the three games decided by three points or fewer.
Ormanspor Genc guard Marquis Wright will be a focal point. In the April 29 loss, Wright played 40 minutes and recorded 25 points, six rebounds and eight assists. Over his past four games, he has averaged 24.5 points, three rebounds and 7.8 assists, including a 35-point, 10-assist outing in a 92-91 loss at Pertevniyal Istanbul on April 9. Wright also scored 23 points and dished 10 assists in a 100-83 win over Kahramanmaras on April 13.
Goztepe forward Abdoulaye Gueye has been a dominant interior presence. In Wednesday’s win, he logged 50 minutes and posted 19 points, 22 rebounds and three assists. Gueye owns three consecutive double-doubles: 24 points and 19 rebounds in a 91-86 loss at Pizza Bulls on April 13, and 29 points and 15 rebounds in a 94-81 win over Yeni Mamak on April 7. His rebounding output — 22 boards in the last meeting — could pose problems for Ormanspor’s frontcourt.
Ormanspor Genc enters having won four of its last six. After Wednesday’s loss, it defeated Karesi Spor 100-83 on April 18 and Kahramanmaras 100-83 on April 13. Center Jacob Hutson contributed 22 points, six rebounds and three blocks in Wednesday’s game, while guard Kaan Sariaslan added 12 points, five rebounds and four assists. The team also recorded a 73-68 win over Darussafaka on April 3 and an 86-79 win at TED Kolejliler on March 28, but suffered a 94-78 home loss to Fenerbahce Koleji on March 2.
Goztepe has won two of its last three. Following Wednesday’s victory, it defeated Yalova Group by forfeit on April 18, then lost 91-86 at Pizza Bulls on April 13. Forward Fatih Cantitiz had 18 points, 16 rebounds and eight assists in the win over Ormanspor, and guard Umut Gecen scored 13 points. Goztepe also beat Yeni Mamak 94-81 and Final Spor Genclik 92-89 on April 3, but dropped a 88-84 home decision to Cayirova on March 29.
The previous meetings this season: Goztepe won 77-74 at home on Oct. 4, 2025, and Ormanspor won 91-90 at home on Jan. 24, 2026. Both teams have shown they can win on the road, and Saturday’s game could be critical for playoff seeding in the TBL, where the top teams jostle for position. Tipoff is at 2 p.m. local time at Goztepe’s home court.
