Buducnost VOLI vs. Mornar
BAR, Montenegro (Interstat) — The Montenegrin Prva A Liga’s top two teams clash Tuesday when first-place Buducnost VOLI visits second-place Mornar at Topolica in Bar.
Buducnost (30-12) holds a slim half-game lead over Mornar (20-9) in the standings, but the home team has played fewer games and owns a slightly higher winning percentage (.690 to .714). Tuesday’s matchup is the second meeting in five days after Buducnost routed Mornar 105-89 on Friday in Podgorica.
Guard Fletcher Magee sparked Buducnost in that win with 31 points, one rebound and five assists in 23 minutes. The American sharpshooter has been on a tear, scoring 22 points in a 110-72 rout at Transilvania Cluj on April 19, though he managed only five points in a loss at Dubai on April 13.
Mornar counter with point guard Alston Mason, who logged 37 points, five rebounds and four assists in 40 minutes during Friday’s loss. Mason has been the team’s offensive engine, averaging 32.8 points over his last four games, including a 37-point, 14-assist triple-overtime win against Podgorica on April 4.
Buducnost also features center Zoran Nikolic (14 points, five rebounds, three assists in the last meeting) and playmaker Alexander Kovlyar (13 points, 11 assists). Mornar’s supporting cast includes forward Viktor Vujisic (11 points, nine rebounds on Friday) and swingman Danilo Aranitovic.
Both teams enter Tuesday in strong form. Buducnost has won four of its last six, with its only losses coming at Dubai and at Partizan. Mornar had won three straight before Friday’s setback, including a 100-98 thriller at Primorje 1945 on April 18 and a 117-109 overtime victory over Podgorica on April 4.
The game tips off at 7 p.m. local time.
