Sibenk vs. Split

SPLIT, Croatia (Interstat) — The Croatian A-1 Liga schedule brings a lopsided matchup Sunday when last-place Sibenk visits Split at Arena Gripe. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. local time.

Split (29-26 across all competitions) enters as a heavy favorite against Sibenk (7-23). The home side has won eight of its last 10 games, most recently a 93-83 victory Friday against Spartak. Sibenk snapped a three-game losing streak Saturday with an 84-74 win over KK Dinamo, but remains near the bottom of the standings.

The two teams met Saturday in a game that ended 0-0 — likely a forfeit or cancellation — but their earlier meetings this season were decisive. Split routed Sibenk 110-72 on Dec. 4 and 93-55 on Feb. 12. Sibenk has not beaten Split since at least the 2025-26 season.

Split’s offense has been fueled by center Jake Stephens, who has been productive off the bench. In Friday’s win over Spartak, Stephens played 21 minutes and posted 15 points, five rebounds, one assist and two blocks. Over his past nine games, he has scored at least seven points each time, including a season-best 25-point effort April 3 at Dubrovnik. Stephens averages about 16 minutes per game but has consistently produced, with double-digit points in six of those nine contests.

Sibenk will rely on small forward Antwan Scott, who had 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists in Saturday’s win over KK Dinamo. Scott has been inconsistent, however. In his four most recent games, he scored 17, eight, 13 and zero points, and played as few as 13 minutes in a win at Zabok on April 4. He has shown the ability to fill the stat sheet when given extended run.

Other contributors for Split include point guard Glenn Cosey, who had 13 points and nine assists against Spartak, and veteran forward Zoran Dragic, who grabbed 11 rebounds in that game. For Sibenk, guard Karlo Miksic scored 20 points in the win over KK Dinamo, and center Viktor Saric added 16 points.

Sunday’s game is the final meeting of the regular season between the Dalmatian rivals. With playoff positioning at stake for Split, and Sibenk seeking respectability, the matchup should offer a clear test of whether the visitors can compete with the league’s upper tier. Arena Gripe, with a capacity of about 6,000, is expected to host a sizable crowd.
