Gocor-Sozh Gomel vs. Brest

BREST, Belarus (Interstat) — The Belarusian BPL season continues Thursday, April 23, 2026, as Brest hosts Gocor-Sozh Gomel at Victoria Sports Complex.

Brest (4-27) enters the matchup languishing near the bottom of the standings, having lost five of its last six games. The home side’s most recent outing was a 77-59 defeat to Prinemanye Grodno on April 19. Despite the loss, small forward Egor Chesnov logged 32 minutes, posting 8 points and 8 rebounds. Over his last six appearances, Chesnov has recorded three double-doubles, including an 11-point, 11-rebound effort against Grodno 93 on April 16 and an 11-point, 4-rebound performance in Brest’s lone recent bright spot, an 88-80 victory over Rubon Vitebsk on April 4.

Gocor-Sozh Gomel (9-15) seeks to build consistency after a 56-73 loss at Prinemanye Grodno on April 11. Power forward Danil Kanishev led the visitors in that defeat with 17 points and 9 rebounds over 35 minutes. Kanishev has been a reliable producer, while teammates Givenchy Ngimbi (15 points, 7 rebounds vs. Prinemanye) and center Kirill Shishlovsky (10 points, 10 rebounds) provide additional depth.

Gomel has shown resilience, posting a 4-4 mark over its last eight contests, including a 98-67 blowout of Rubon Vitebsk II on March 28 and a 96-91 overtime victory at RSCOP Music on March 25. However, road struggles remain a concern for the visitors.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time. Brest will look to leverage home-court advantage against a Gomel side aiming to climb above .500 in its remaining schedule.
