Poissy vs. Metz Basket

AP Sports Preview

METZ, France (Interstat) — Two teams near the bottom of the French NM1 standings meet Tuesday when Poissy visits Metz Basket in a matchup of clubs seeking to reverse prolonged struggles.

Poissy (8-32 in all competitions) has lost 10 straight games entering the 8 p.m. local tipoff. The visitors’ most recent defeat came Friday, 101-87 at home against St Chamond NM1, a loss that extended a skid dating to March 31. That date marks Poissy’s last victory: a 95-81 win against Tuesday’s opponent, Metz Basket, in Poissy.

Forward Remi N. E. Dibo leads Poissy’s attack after scoring 22 points in Friday’s loss, playing 34 minutes. Dibo has been productive despite the team’s results, averaging 12 points over his previous three games. He logged 12 points against Pays Salonais on April 26 and eight points against Lyonso on April 21. The French club has lost by an average margin of nearly 19 points during its skid.

Metz Basket (12-28) also enters on a downturn, having lost five straight after an 88-81 defeat at Chartres Metropole on Friday. Guard Collin Turner, who scored 20 points in that game, paces the home team. Turner also posted 22 points against Angers on April 10. Forward Tyron Minfir added 15 points and nine rebounds in the Chartres loss.

Tuesday’s game carries no postseason implications for either side, but both seek to build momentum. Poissy’s last road victory came March 31 (Interstat) — at home against Metz Basket, as the matchup was played in Poissy. The two teams split last season’s series, each winning on home court.

Poissy’s next game is Friday against Charleville-Mezieres. Metz Basket visits Val De Seine on Friday.

The NM1 is the third tier of French professional basketball.
