Urania Milano vs. Verona

VERONA, Italy (Interstat) — Verona hosts Urania Milano on Sunday at PalaOlimpia in a Serie A2 Basket matchup that pits a playoff contender against a team fighting for postseason positioning.

Verona enters with a 23-13 record, sitting near the top of the standings, while Urania Milano is 17-20 and looking to climb into the playoff picture. The game tips off at 5 p.m. local time.

Verona has won four of its last five games, including a dominant 87-68 victory over Gemini Mestre on April 12 and an 89-56 rout of Forlì 2.015 on April 8. The lone blemish in that stretch was an 84-83 loss at Victoria Libertas on April 5. Verona’s depth has been a key factor, with multiple players contributing in each contest.

Urania Milano is coming off an 88-83 win over Rieti on April 19, snapping a two-game losing streak. Prior to that, Milano lost 89-75 at Rimini and edged Baltur Centu 67-65 on the road. The team has struggled with consistency, posting a 5-5 record over its last 10 games.

A player to watch for Urania Milano is forward Alessandro Gentile, who has been a steady producer. In the win over Rieti, Gentile played 27 minutes and finished with 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists. He also posted a double-double against Rimini with 14 points and 12 rebounds despite the loss. Across his last four games, Gentile is averaging 15.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists.

For Verona, forward Federico POser has been a key contributor. He recorded 17 points, eight rebounds and two assists in the win over Gemini Mestre. POser also had 12 points and seven rebounds in Verona’s one-point victory over Baltur Centu on March 29. His inside presence and ability to stretch the floor will be crucial against Milano’s frontcourt.

The two teams met once earlier this season, with Urania Milano winning 79-73 at home on Nov. 1, 2025. In that game, Gentile led Milano with 22 points and seven assists. Verona will look to even the season series on its home floor.

Milano will also rely on center Anthony Morse, who had 18 points and 12 rebounds against Rieti, and point guard Gherardo Sabatini, who added 13 points. For Verona, center Andrea Loro and guard Riccardo Bolpin provide additional scoring options; Loro grabbed 10 rebounds in the win over Gemini Mestre, while Bolpin scored 12 points.

Both teams are coming off extended breaks, with Verona last playing on April 12 and Milano on April 19. The rest should benefit both squads as they enter the final stretch of the regular season.

Sunday’s game carries significant implications for playoff seeding. A win for Verona would solidify its position near the top of the standings, while Milano needs a victory to keep pace in the crowded middle of the table.
