Maroussi vs. PAOK

AP Sports Preview: Maroussi at PAOK

THESSALONIKI, Greece (Interstat) — A matchup of Greek HEBA A1 extremes arrives Saturday, April 25, 2026, as the league-leading PAOK hosts last-place Maroussi at PAOK Sports Arena.

PAOK (29-13 overall) enters on a four-game winning streak across all competitions, most recently a 79-73 victory Wednesday, April 22, over Bilbao. Guard Patrick Beverley, the team’s engine, produced 24 points, seven rebounds and four assists in 31 minutes in that win. The 37-year-old veteran has been a consistent force, following up a 16-point, eight-rebound, two-assist performance against Aris on April 15 with a quieter six-point outing against Murcia on April 1. Beverley’s backcourt partner, Breein Tyree, added 21 points and five assists against Bilbao, giving PAOK a dangerous perimeter duo.

Maroussi (4-12) has struggled mightily this season, sitting at the bottom of the standings. The visitors are coming off a rare bright spot: a 108-93 victory Saturday, April 18, over Kolossos Rodou. Point guard Jordan Walker led the way with 23 points, eight assists and two rebounds in 34 minutes. The 2025-26 campaign has been grim otherwise — Maroussi has lost 10 of its last 11 games, including a 97-87 home defeat to PAOK on Dec. 14, 2025, the most recent head-to-head meeting. In that loss, PAOK’s depth overwhelmed Maroussi, though Walker’s playmaking kept the game competitive.

Walker’s performance against Kolossos marked his second consecutive strong outing, but Maroussi’s supporting cast remains inconsistent. Forward Jacorey Williams posted 17 points and 11 rebounds in that win, while Cam Reynolds added 19 points. Yet the team has repeatedly faltered on the road, with losses at Olympiacos (104-89), AEK (83-74) and Aris (102-76) this season.

PAOK, by contrast, has dominated at home, winning six of its last seven contests in Thessaloniki. The club is also competing in European play, with a road game at Bilbao looming Wednesday, April 29, but Saturday’s focus is on padding its domestic lead.

Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. local time. PAOK is expected to lean on Beverley’s leadership and Tyree’s scoring, while Maroussi will need Walker to replicate his all-around production to have any chance of an upset.
