Leicester vs. London
LONDON (Interstat) — The London Lions (8-3) will look to continue their strong start to the season when they host the struggling Leicester Riders (1-4) in a Super League Basketball matchup on Sunday at Copper Box Arena.
The Lions have been one of the league’s top teams, winning eight of their first 11 games across all competitions. They are coming off a 96-51 rout of Glasgow on Oct. 26 in their last domestic outing, though they fell 89-77 to Turk Telekom in a European contest on Wednesday. Kameron McGusty and Joel Scott each scored 16 points in that loss.
Leicester, meanwhile, is seeking consistency after a 1-4 start. The Riders snapped a four-game losing streak with an 80-78 victory over the Surrey 89ers on Oct. 24. RaeQuan Battle led the way with 27 points in that win.
The Lions have already secured one victory over their rivals this season, defeating the Riders 79-72 in Leicester on Sept. 19. London has dominated the recent domestic schedule, while Leicester’s lone win came in its last time out.
The Riders will need another high-scoring performance from Battle and support from Tomiwa Sulaiman (10 points, 7 rebounds vs. Surrey) to challenge a deep London squad on its home court.
