Apollon BC vs. Morphou
Preview: Apollon BC at Morphou, Cypriot Division A
NICOSIA, Cyprus (Interstat) — Two teams seeking consistency will meet Saturday when Apollon BC visits Morphou in a Cypriot Division A matchup.
The game, scheduled for Jan. 10, 2026, pits a pair of clubs with nearly identical records. Apollon BC enters at 4-7 across all competitions, while Morphou sits just one game ahead at 5-6.
The visiting Apollon squad is coming off an offensive explosion, a 121-90 rout of ETHA Engomis on Jan. 4. Guard Gyasi Powell led the charge with 31 points, five rebounds and three assists in 31 minutes. Powell, a key player to watch, also recorded a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds in a narrow loss to APOEL on Dec. 20. He will be supported by Isaiah Adams and Jamarii Thomas, who combined for 55 points and 15 assists in the recent win.
Morphou, however, presents a contrasting style. They ground out a 71-65 road victory over Frederick Achilleas on Jan. 4, fueled by a standout performance from guard Kieffer Punter. Punter, Morphou’s primary threat, logged 40 minutes and poured in 27 points, adding five assists and three rebounds. His scoring ability will be central to the home team’s hopes.
Recent history heavily favors Apollon BC. In their first meeting this season on Oct. 26, Apollon dominated Morphou 101-73. That lopsided result adds a layer of motivation for Morphou as they seek to defend their home court and level the season series.
For Apollon, the challenge will be translating their high-octane home performance to the road, where they have struggled at times this season. For Morphou, containing Powell and slowing Apollon’s transition game will be critical after surrendering 101 points in the previous matchup.
The outcome could provide a significant pivot in the mid-table standings for both clubs as they navigate the heart of the Division A schedule.
