APOEL vs. Morphou

NICOSIA, Cyprus (Interstat) — Two teams looking to break a pattern of inconsistency will meet Saturday when APOEL visits Morphou in a Cypriot Division A basketball matchup.

Both teams enter the contest with identical 3-3 records across all competitions. APOEL is coming off a narrow 98-94 home loss to ETHA Engomis last Friday. Despite the defeat, APOEL received strong performances from Kenney Funderburk, who nearly recorded a triple-double with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists, and Walter Whyte, who added 20 points and 7 rebounds.

Morphou also seeks to rebound from a close loss, having fallen 90-86 to AEL Limassol last Sunday. Keith Williams powered Morphou in that game, erupting for a season-high 42 points to go with 7 rebounds. Center Nikolaos Okekuoyen provided a strong interior presence with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds.

The teams have followed similar trajectories this season, trading wins and losses. APOEL’s results have been volatile, including a 35-point victory over AEL Limassol and a 35-point loss to AEK Larnaca. Morphou’s season has featured an overtime win against Paralimni and a 28-point loss to Apollon BC.

Saturday’s game will be the first of two regular-season meetings between the clubs, with the rematch scheduled for Jan. 31, 2026, in Nicosia.
