Baylor rolls past Prairie View behind early scoring surge
WACO, Texas (Interstat) — Baylor defeated Prairie View 44-3 on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, at McLane Stadium, controlling the NCAA Football Bowl Division game from the first quarter. The visiting Panthers managed only Ethan Eddins’ 25-yard field goal. The Bears scored 17 first-quarter points and led comfortably throughout. Nate Bennett threw touchdown passes to McGowan and D. Miller and ran for another score. C. Knighten and J. McGowan added rushing touchdowns. R. Armstrong kicked field goals and extra points for Baylor. Prairie View’s defense, including Jordan Campbell, Malachi Williams, Eric Zachery, Rondell Carter, Kamrin Canterbury, Nahamani Harris, Jalen O’Neal, Matthew Moore, JJ Jean-Louis and Dorian Gates, could not slow Baylor’s offense. The Panthers dropped to 1-2 and will host Stephen F. Austin on Saturday. Baylor improved to 1-1 and will host Louisiana Tech on Saturday. Baylor’s win evened its record after a road loss at Auburn the previous week. Prairie View had beaten Texas Southern in its prior game.
