Horned Frogs roll past Tigers behind balanced scoring attack

FORT WORTH (Interstat) — Texas Christian scored in every quarter and pulled away from Grambling for a 63-7 victory Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, at Amon G. Carter Stadium. The Horned Frogs evened their record at 1-1, while the visiting Tigers dropped to 2-1. The Football Bowl Subdivision game was never close after the opening period, as Texas Christian controlled the line of scrimmage, created short fields and turned scoring chances into touchdowns. Grambling’s only points came in the first quarter, and the Tigers could not keep pace once the Horned Frogs found a rhythm through the air and on the ground.

Texas Christian opened the scoring with 12:21 left in the first quarter when Major Everhart rushed left for an 8-yard touchdown. N. McCashland added the extra point. Grambling tried to respond, but Diego Alfaro’s 20-yard field goal attempt with 8:23 left in the first quarter was blocked by A. Din-Mbuh, ending a promising drive. The Tigers managed a first-quarter touchdown to get on the board, but the Horned Frogs answered every threat and quickly regained control.

The second quarter belonged to Texas Christian. J. Denman rushed left for a 1-yard touchdown with 10:53 remaining, and McCashland kicked the extra point. Jaden Craig then completed a short pass to the right to Ka’Morreun Pimpton, who caught the ball at the Grambling 5 and scored from 9 yards out with 8:26 left. McCashland’s kick extended the lead. J. Pitchford added another 1-yard touchdown run with 1:48 remaining in the half, and McCashland converted again. By the time the teams headed to the locker room, Texas Christian had built a lead that Grambling could not erase.

Texas Christian kept rolling in the third quarter. Craig completed a deep pass to the left to K. Ashley for a 29-yard touchdown with 9:23 remaining. McCashland’s extra point was good. Later in the quarter, Craig connected with Jeremy Scott on a deep left pass for a 52-yard touchdown with 2:20 left. The play was reviewed, and the ruling that the runner broke the plane was upheld. McCashland converted the extra point, extending the Horned Frogs’ advantage.

The fourth quarter brought more of the same. Craig found K. Ashley again, this time on a short pass to the right that went 15 yards for a touchdown with 12:23 remaining. McCashland kicked the extra point. Grambling’s Hayden Benoit then had a pass intercepted by T. Parks at the Texas Christian 33. Parks returned it 67 yards for a touchdown with 9:52 left, and McCashland added the point after. A. Martin closed the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown run to the left with 3:24 remaining, and McCashland’s final extra point capped the 63-point outburst.
