CEDAR CITY, Utah (Interstat) — UC Davis will visit Southern Utah on Saturday in an NCAA Football Championship Division game at Eccles Coliseum, with the Aggies seeking to build on a high-scoring win and the Thunderbirds trying to sustain momentum from their own offensive outburst.

UC Davis enters 4-2. The Aggies beat Eastern Washington 49-38 in their most recent game. Quarterback Treynor Cleeland is a player to watch. He completed 15 of 27 passes for 278 yards and four touchdowns and ran seven times for 35 yards in that victory. Earlier, against Montana, he completed 18 of 33 passes for 194 yards and one touchdown and ran seven times for 2 yards. Against Stetson, he completed 26 of 37 passes for 331 yards and two touchdowns. In the win over Eastern Washington, Jordan Fisher ran 20 times for 255 yards and two touchdowns. Zach Jones added a 67-yard run, two receptions for 60 yards and a 36-yard kickoff return.

Southern Utah enters 2-4. The Thunderbirds beat Utah Tech 46-33 in their most recent game. Quarterback Will Burns is a player to watch. He completed 8 of 11 passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns, ran 12 times for 187 yards and two scores, and punted once for 30 yards in that win. Against Idaho State, he completed 20 of 32 passes for 153 yards, ran 16 times for 72 yards and accounted for two touchdowns. At Saint Thomas (Minn.), he completed 20 of 28 passes for 221 yards and ran eight times for 23 yards, with one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown. Floyd Chalk added 18 carries for 115 yards and a touchdown against Utah Tech. Southern Utah has a win over Weber State and losses to Montana, Colorado State, Saint Thomas (Minn.) and Idaho State.

UC Davis opened with a 31-24 win at Portland State, beat San Diego 49-17, fell at SMU 56-10, beat Stetson 45-7 and lost to Montana 62-22 before the Eastern Washington win. Southern Utah opened with a 28-21 loss at Montana, beat Weber State 47-42, lost at Colorado State 58-24, lost at Saint Thomas (Minn.) 28-26 and fell to Idaho State 28-24 before beating Utah Tech.

Eccles Coliseum in Cedar City will host the matchup. UC Davis is scheduled to host Northern Colorado next, then visit Weber State, host Utah Tech, visit Idaho and host Cal Poly. Southern Utah is set to visit Idaho, host Northern Arizona, host Northern Colorado, visit Portland State and host Chicago State.
