PAWTUCKET, R.I. (Interstat) — Rhode Island defeated Brown 13-10 on Saturday at Centreville Bank Stadium. Ty Groff kicked a 43-yard field goal with 11 seconds remaining to lift the Rams over the Bears in an NCAA Football Championship Division game. Rhode Island struck first on Groff’s 43-yard field goal, but Brown answered with Drew Crabtree’s 33-yard field goal and later took the lead on a 1-yard rushing touchdown. Alex McClelland then ran 12 yards for a Rhode Island touchdown before Groff delivered the winning kick. James Murphy completed 21 of 37 passes for 271 yards for Brown. Gabe Winowich rushed 23 times for 85 yards and Marquis Buchanan caught five passes for 90 yards for Rhode Island. Max Malo made 19 tackles, Stefano Montella added 18 and Camryn Williams-Dalton intercepted a pass for Brown. Rohan Davy recorded eight tackles for Rhode Island. Rhode Island improved to 3-3, while Brown dropped to 1-2.
